The Culture School is a unique meeting place for music and theater, visual arts and media, circus and dance for children and young people up to 20 years old. We have age-divided groups in visual arts, circus, dance, film, photography, choir singing, theater, and several orchestras and ensembles every week. Children and young people can play an instrument at their regular school during the day or with us in the afternoon or evening. Together, we are about 50 educators and administrative staff. We have a large operation with over 2,500 activities every week and collaborate with the municipality's primary schools and in the neighborhoods.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to help develop singing and choir teaching at the Culture School in Gävle? You also have a degree from a music academy or similar. Great! Then you could be the singing and choir educator we are looking for at the Culture School. Come and make Gävle more creative together with us!

As an educator, you will teach singing and choir. You will plan, organize, and evaluate your teaching in a qualitative and independent manner. With research and proven experience as a foundation, you will have great freedom to shape your teaching according to your own and your students' wishes. You will have close collaboration with others in your work team.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a degree from a Music Academy, other education and/or experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.

You have a broad genre and are used to using piano and rhythm as complementary pedagogical tools. Other instrument skills are also meritorious.

You have previous experience working with children and youth as a singing and choir educator.

To succeed in this position, you have the ability to lead and motivate students, making them feel comfortable and well. You are structured and plan your work well. You are good at creating an open dialogue and adapting your language to the situation. You have a good ability to make students feel a sense of belonging and you are used to working with all target groups, including children and young people with special needs. You see what needs to be prioritized, are efficient, and use resources to achieve the best results.

As a person, you also instill trust, create confidence and reliability. You have the ability to spread calm and stability. In social contexts, you take initiative and have the ability to create trusting relationships.
